Creativity blossoms in an atmosphere of freedom and openness. It keeps on trying to discover new things. This is the secret behind the innumerable inventions and discoveries. Learn to be always creative.

Man is full of talents. Normally a person realizes only a few of his talents. The rest remains hidden. Creativity helps him uncover the hidden talents. It makes him search for his talents constantly. It awakens his intellect and sharpens his thinking. It teaches him to be objective in all that he does.

Creativity calls for deeper thinking and understanding. It is creative thinking that has result in so many inventions and discovers. The new designs and techniques are the products of some creative minds. Imagine this world without electricity, radio, television, aeroplane and computer - all these facilities are made possible by some creative minds.

We go to school to acquire new knowledge and skills. Education is meant to draw out the best in us. This is possible only when we become creative in learning. Normally we study just what is given in the textbooks. We learn by memorizing and reproducing the text just to get through the examination. It is not to say what is given in the texts is trash. On the other hand what is given in the textbooks is the wisdom carried down from generation to generation. We must be able to use this wisdom to be creative. We must be able to use it to profit others and ourselves.

Normally we learn to pass in the examinations. Our learning does not go beyond scoring more marks. We keep cramming more stuff just for the examination day. Once that exercise is over, it is as good as we have not learned anything. This kind of learning does not help us grow in life. There are many people with a list of degrees added to their names. But they are not able to communicate well. They are not able to find solutions to problems that keep cropping up every day. They are not able to make their contribution to the growth of mankind.

Vinoba Bhave was concerned about the millions of people who did not have any land to cultivate. He wanted these people to live a respectful life by working on their own land. He went to rich people and motivated them to give away a share of their vast land. His Bhoodan Movement caught the imagination of the people. Millions of landless people thus became proud owners of their own land. Vinoba Bhave could do it because he came out with something original and different.

Mahatma Gandhi used satyagraha to get the British out of our land. Sunderlal Bahuguna used the Chipko Movement to stop large-scale felling of trees and save our environment. Anna Hazare reawakened the villages of region to tap their own resources for development. It is creativity that has spurred tens and thousands to action.

As students, you must learn to be creative. Instead of cramming readymade answer, you must to prepare your own answers. Your creativity should find its expression in extracurricular activities like debates and dramatics.

God has given each one of us lots of talents. It has to be our constant effort to discover and make use of them. The more talents we bring out, the more satisfied we are going to be. We should not feel jealous of others who are more talented. We should be content with our own achievements. We should also try to do better all the time.
