Michael Mann’s immaculate directing brilliance definitely went well with epic. In a first look exquisite cinematography, fantastic music and some well shot thrilling sequences were the most important ingredients of this masterpiece. No it has more – A beautiful Love Story and a terrific climax which became the soul of the movie.

Plot set in way back in 1750’s when French-British Colonial powers often had mutual disputes over North American soil. Daniel Day Lewis was simply perfect in his intrepid Indian look with awesome hairstyle and unique gestures. Tribal warfare was looking flawless most of the times. One could not forget the wicked faced villain Magua played by Wes Studi. The splendid locations really suck you into old times. Though the theme was survival but many things in screenplay was predictable. Still it doesn’t lose its cinematic beauty when one stirring climax with magnificent bgms takes place. And hence the climax became the most memorable part in the movie in my opinion. Movie evidently had historical and cultural references as the story taken place in such an era.

One good movie with all departments of filmmaking excelled. Not my favorite Michael Mann movie still it had its moments to cherish. Watch it and experience the Mohican valor for a while.

My Rating : 7/10
