Osteoporosis is condition which causes bones to become very brittle and weak. The bones become so brittle that mild stresses like coughing and bending over could result in a fracture. Osteoporosis usually occurs when there is a bone created that does not keep pace with the growth of the old bone.

Family history and race are also important risk factors, which determine the condition of osteoporosis. Men as well as women with small body frames have a greater risk of having lesser bone mass. When there is too much imbalance in hormones, then there are chances for greater osteoporosis.
