Animals are found everywhere. They live on land and water. Different animals live in different types of shelters. Let us read about the shelters of some animals.

Some birds live in forests. Others live close to human habitation. They live on trees near houses and sometimes make nests in the house.

Do birds live in nests?

No, birds do not live in nests. They make a nest to lay eggs. This way the eggs remain safe and warm. The baby birds live in the nest till they are big enough to fly. Once the young ones leave, the birds also abandon their nest. They make a new nest when they have to lay eggs again.

Hills, trees, lake, animals, and birds are a world. It is a beautiful location. That is fine to look. Don’t cut the trees don’t kills the animals and birds.

The home or natural environment of a living thing is called its habitat. Animals can be grouped according to their habitat.

A group of chimpanzees, gorillas or monkeys is called a band. Chimpanzees live in groups of 15 to 80. The mother chimpanzee and her babies form a smaller group with in larger group. These animals use facial expressions and gestures to communicate with one another.

These birds are cattle egrets. The birds that ride on the backs of giraffes and oxen are called oxpeckers. These two kinds of birds eat insects which live on the skin of animals. In return, they alert these animals with a shrill call when they see an enemy.

When the habitat of any animal is destroyed, it usually cannot move to some other place for food, space and shelter. People cut down forests for their needs. This is deforestation. It kills the plants and trees that provide food and homes for many animals. When these homeless animals cannot find a place with a suitable environment, its entire kind simple die vanishes from the face of earth.

Dachigam national park is located in Jammu and Kashmir. The Marsar Lake is found here from which flow the Dagwan River. Dachigam means ten villages. It is natural home of the endangered red deer hangul or Kashmir stag. Different kinds of animals like the jungle cat, leopard cat, otter, weasel, grey languor, black bear, yellow-billed blue magpie and many more have made these forests their home. During summer season, along with the green grass, a great variety of colorful flower grows and forms a beautiful carpet on the ground.

Jahangir, the Mughal emperor ruled India in the year 1605 to 1627. As a naturalist, he showed great interesting in studying animals and plants. He liked different kinds of plants, flowers, fruits and animals like the sarus and elephant. Jahangir had a zoo of animals and birds.
