Hello friends, back with a new topic for discussion. Like the previous ones, I hope that this one too gets immense response and keeps the forums alive!

Since the exams for twelfth standard board have already started and the tenth board are looming just around the corner, I was thinking seriously about the frantic pace that these children and their parents have had to suffer from the moment the child enters ninth standard. That is when the preparations for achieving or rather, attempting to score 100% marks start! This also poses a serious question, is it all really necessary? Scoring a place in the merit in 10th or 12th guarantees a successful life later on???

So think along these lines and post your replies to:

Are we producing a generation of burnt-out children?

As usual, the rules remain the same, let me reiterate for the newbies.

To be eligible to earn 50 points, you have to post a minimum of 3 valid replies and please bear in mind, the replies should not be posted one after another but as a response to others' replies and to reiterate your point. Remember this is a DISCUSSION, not essay-writing.

The winner gets Rs 50 plus 50 points and the runner-up gets Rs 25 plus 50 points.

Go guys!! All the best! :)

As this is launching pad for the future of a child every one tries to do his/her best at this stage, including parents. Actually the process of admission is so competitive and not enough seats are available in desired streams, cut-offs being too high, therefore this is natural that every one is doing extra efforts even at the cost of getting burnt-out at a tender age. This can be avoided only if our policy makers can think of a better way and a little more practical approach toward education system.

Now a days there is heavy competition between institutes for ranks. Even parents also want to get good score of their children in 10th to get free seat for 12th after 12th they are trying for eamcet so they are keeping more pressure on children to get ranks. They are getting ranks with pressure and failing in life.

I do not think study with pressure will give more knowledge to childrens I think study without pressure is more better like if batsman do batting underpressure then there is no gurentee that he will able to perform but if he is in free mind than we can see best shots from them.

So I think study with pressure is not good.

Thank you for a relevant topic here.

Today children are brain stormed that they are living in a world of tight competitions. To survive here he must prove his quality.Parents are also thinking in that way.As an ultimate result students are undergoing high stress. After completing the 10th or 12th exam many parents have to go to counseling centres with their wards.

I think children are to be given their own freedom in facing the exams. But it should not be over to spoil their future. We should analyse the capacity of our children and train them accordingly.

Here it is said from class nine, but the actual rat race starts from class seven or eight. Now a days many things changed. There are many multiple choice questions and from this year exam will be held on tenth or twelve standard. Educations minister declared that in joint there will be one exam and syllabus.
so we should not give pressure to our child. He should have the authority to choose the stream etc. They should be inspired by all specially parents. If he gets fear then he will be failure in fear.

It is responsibility of society and parents to well groom and educate the generation next. We need free and universal education up to primary level and free education thereafter for all. Presently, education system is very expensive. Education has also been commercialized. There are a sort of 'branded' institutes catering to super rich, who pay exorbitant amounts for admission of their wards. These institutes are more instrumental in perpetuating class and snobbery rather than real education. However these have brand valued that is recognized by employers of big establishments and industrial houses. Not so rich people face acute hardship to get their children any way educated in such institutes.

Unless the educations system is entirely free and merit made the only criteria, the meritorious poor will be laggards and the not so meritorious rich will lead. This is a matter of grave concern to individuals as well as the nation. Unless we get people at every post strictly on merit, we collectively suffer.

China is far ago from us as they give importance to professional education and there it is compulsory to give education to a child up to nine years. There are many streams also.So one can choose the way as he/she wants.

Education is free and compulsory upto a certain age. But what today taking place is not education. It is mugging up some information for vomiting in answer papers. It makes useless citizens only.

Education is the allround development of innate abilities in a man. Here we are digging our own graves through such exam systems and teaching methods.

Parents treat their children like race horses flogged to run fastest. They little realize that all children are not alike and too much expectation can be counter productive. This also causes frustration in many children. This also results in suicide by some of them. It is necessary to change such attitude. Children should be enabled to grow and prosper but not over stressed like race horses

In my home there is an example. My wife's sister's son is with me who is going to face twelth standard exam.He is week in almost all subjects especially in my subject Physics.I know his capacities and teach only that much.Forcing him to study more will mess up all things. But his parents are expecting high from him due to his mug up studies in 10th.Really this is the problem of our society.
