How does one enter the field of environmental conservation or wildlife conservation without having a formal education in any of the sciences?

I would really like to get into the field of wildlife conservation, but, alas, did not study any biology, zoology, environmental sciences. Could someone give some help. i know volunteering is an option ,but I need to survive too. i am passionate about joining and have a affinity for animals . I'm 35 years old and need to change my job. Have experience in managing a tea plantation and would really like to shift. Could someone shine some light. 

From whatever research I've done, there is barely anything you can do without having a formal education in those fields. Why cant someone who has a desire to work for them get into the act of saving wildlife.
