India has been receiving help in various fields from Israel since the time P V Narasimha Rao took the initiative to develop cordial relationship with Israel but for obvious reasons , keeping only the Palestine issue in mind and with the sole intent of not displeasing the minorities the previous Prime Ministers never visited Israel. It is to his credit that Mr Modi has realised the importance of having Israel as a close ally . Israel has gone all out to make this visit a success calling it very special while at home Congress and other such parties as usual show their immaturity by criticizing , simply because they dint do it ..

Really a Historic Visit to Israel by the PM

PM Modi is the first Indian Prim Minister to visit Israel , making it a Historic trip. Ahead of Modi's visit, officials of Israeli Foreign Ministry said that their Country supports India on terrorism

This is a very positive thing to have happened and Modi is right in trying to strengthen ties with Israel. Israel, is the only country in the world that is not afraid of calling a wolf a wolf, much unlike USA who will hedge towards India and then also lean towards Pakistan and China, the next instant. There are very important lessons that India can learn Israel which has also never hesitated to help us. Ever since Independence, India has always hesitated to develop obvious political ties with Israel with the fear of offending the Arabs. But as we know, we can never trust our immediate neighbours any time for help when a difficulty arises, it would do well to get help from Israelis who are clearer and braver in moth their thoughts and actions!

It is so contradictory Kalyani that many of the Arab and Islamic nations have trade and other relationships with Israel. But India wants to show it is above all this and does not mind cutting off it's own feet in the process of pleasing . What a sham it has been for so many decades and see where it has brought us?

So true Usha! While the country which has come to our help unconditionally has always been ignored, no doubt a part of the appeasement policy for the Islamic Arab countries. Take Nepal on the other hand, we provide home and livelihood for thousands of Nepalese and do they live in peace? They now want a peace of our own land and take it as their own. We are the ones who went to their rescue before anyone else in times of natural calamities, but they do not even show a little bit of loyalty. So it is high time that we recoignised true friends and reciprocated their gesture towards us in a suitable manner.

The visit by Indian P.M. to Israel is a departure from India's foreign policy of supporting the Palestine.  It may be recalled that the Palestine were uprooted from their home land which forms Israel.  Things definitely change when there is a shift in foreign policy of a country. .

Under Congress and UPA , India's foreign policy depended solely on personal equations and moods of the leaders...so there is a direct need for a shift .. incidentally the while concept of Palestine as an independent entity s largely a myth , according to some ..

“In fact, there never has been a state called Palestine, nor have the Palestinian Arabs ever been an independent people, and Jerusalem never has been an Arab or Muslim capital. Jerusalem has had an absolute Jewish majority for more than a century (and a plurality before that), and for the last three thousand years, only the Jewish people have called it their capital…To inveigh against ‘Judaizing’ Jerusalem is like protesting the Arabization of Cairo.”

– David Bar-Illan, former Executive Editor of the Jerusalem Post, in an article first published in November 1998 in the Los Angeles Times.

The Palestinians were uprooted. Agreed. But were not the jews uprooted earlier on. Why no sympathy is there with the historical uprooting of the jews?. Similar is the fate of Kashmiri Pandits who have been uprooted from their home land by the same ideology that did it in Palestine. After some time when the Kashmiri Muslims will be thrown out of Kashmir and Pandits return should you cry for the Muslims?

That is exactly why India must support and strengthen friendship with Israel. If anyone can ever help us sincerely, it is only Israel and no one else!

Various voices of dissent coming from the opposition and other groups show that Mr Modi is n the right track..

It is so easy and opportunistic to walk on tracks laid by earlier leaders. When will new tracks get laid?
