Description: Kingdom of Kulchui Dybasty in the early days and of the famous Gonda Dynasty in the 12th century, Jabalpur is famous for its natural beauty and adventures. It is covered by granite and sandstone rocks. The evening scenery of blue sky above red and green hills is incredible. Ruled by the Marathas, the power of East India Company can also be felt here from the old military barracks. It is the center of important political, economic and administrative events in Madhya Pradesh.

Madan Mahal Fort: Build in 1116 AD by 38th Gonda king, Madan Shah, upon a hill, it is proud of Jabalpur. While visiting it one can see Balance Rocks, which is a vast rock made up of stones over a long period of time.

 Rani Durgawati Memorial & Museum: This is the place where Rani Durgawati, seated over her best elephant Sarman, fought Akbar’s army and died in the battle. Many historic objects have been preserved in the museum.

 Tilwara Ghat: This is the river bank on Narmada, in which Mahatma Gandhi’s burnt ashes were mixed into the river.

 Kachnar City: Newest developed city which is famous for its 76 feet Shiva statue.

 Dumna Nature Reserve: About 10kms from Jabalpur, this reserve is spread over 1058 hectares area. Khandari Dam is most famus here. Though boating facilities are available, this area is well protected for there is a large number of crocodile. 12th century’s built Mala Devi Temple, Gokuldas Palace of Hanuman Tal, Tripur Sundari Temple, Pisan Hari Jain Temple and Roopnath are othe places worth visiting.

 Bhera Ghat: Also known as Bhairaw Ghat, it is famous for marbel rocks on the banks. It appears magical in a full-moon day. Boating facility is available her from November  to May. Causath Yogini Temple, dedicated to Maa Durga, built in 10th century and Dhuandhar Falls are very attractive here. 

Bargi Dam: About 40kms from Jabalpur, this place is famous for various water sports and the Cruise Service started recently attracts a large number of tourists. It is 69m high and 5.357 km long.

 

Many other places worth visiting are reachable easily.
