Jaipur-The Pink City
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is known as "Pink City". It was founded in AD 1727 by Sawai Jaisingh II. Jaipur was India's first planned city and Vidyadhar Bhattarcharya a Bengali architect was commissioned to plan the city. The city attracts lots of tourist everyday. It is a very splendid tourist destination. Jaipur is famous for its culture and the rich heritage. It is one of the oldest historical palaces. Beautiful Hawa Mahal also known as "Palace of Winds" which looks like the crown of Hindu God Lord Krishna built with the pink sandstone stands in the heart of Jaipur. Jaipur has many tourist spots. One could visit the various forts situated in and around Jaipur and enjoy its architectural beauties. People could find vast gardens, temples and forts around the city. The malls and the small markets attract many tourists to buy the famous Rajasthani jewellery and the sarees. The bazaars are also famous for fabric and shoes. Jaipur has straight avenues, roads, streets and lanes and different types of shops are built on either side of the main roads. Jaipur is the residence of the Maharajas. But now common people reside. Various handloom materials are sold in the city shops which are very beautiful. Jaipur is famous for classical dance and music. Jaipur is just like the paradise for the tourist. The forts, gardens and monuments make the tourist feel it like the paradise.
