Team games

Most people play games for fun and entertainment. But for the above and many others, play is work. They have made sports like cricket, tennis and shooting their profession!

Games played between two groups are called team games. These groups are called teams.

A team is formed when more than one person plays on the same side of a game. Equal number of players in both the teams play against each other.

Games like hockey, cricket, foot ball and basket ball are played between two teams.

*There are 11 layers in each team in cricket, hockey, and football.

Do team games involve `playing for the team’ or `playing for oneself’? Why? Individual/pair games

Not all games are played between teams. Some games such as shooting, billiards and golf are played by a single person. Such games are called individual games.

Games like table tennis, tennis and badminton are played either in single or double pairs.

All round development

Playing games make the body fit mind active. Team games build skills that benefit a person throughout his life.

Playing in teams is helps to make friends, Teaches co-operation and respect for others. Teaches to play in a fair manner and to wait for one’s turned patiently. Develops leadership shills.

Bhagat is the caption of the school cricket team. He is always one of the best players. He is sincere and understands his responsibility ad a captain. His team members respect his decisions and follow his directions. He keeps the team motivated and resolves and difference between the team members in fair manner.

The sports teacher in Bhagat’s school encourages boys and girls o play together. He finds that girls are equality good players.

Winning teams are always headed by a good caption who maintains a healthy team spirit.

Local games

Bhagat and his sister Rani invented a game to play at home during their summer vacations. They gathered the whole family and asked each member to talk about his her favorite game.

Mummy proudly told every0ne that she was the captain of the Kho- Kho and Kabaadi team in her school days.
