This is a traditional and old tiffin item. If are planning to prepare this soak and grind the rice previous day itself.

Ingredients:

  • Raw rice - 4 cups
  • Buttermilk - 200g
  • Oil - 100g
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida powder - little
  • Green chilles  or Buttermilk chillies  - 4 to 5
  • Salt - As per taste


Method:

1. Wash the rice and soak it for one hour

2. Grind the rice in a mixie to a nice paste.

3. Mix salt with the flour and keep aside. ( Use it next day morning or evening )

4. Mix buttermilk and rice flour well using your hands.

5. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

6. When mustard seeds sputters out add chillies.

7. Add rice flour and remaining oil and cook it well it
(  Fry and mix it every 2 to 3 minutes for atleast an hour. Otherwise it will stick to vessel )

8. After it becomes like halwa remove from the flame and allow it cool by spreading on a broad plate.
( Spread little oil on the plate to avoid sticking )

9. Cut that to pieces and serve it.

( This can be eaten as such and no side dish is needed )
