Expression of love in public - Is it needed?

Last week, Kiss of Love protest in Kochi caught media attention nationwide. Though well-educated, Kerala is still a very conservative society which protests all types of such public activities. Though supported by youth, this movement was protested by all groups of Kerala society. I too feel that love is someone's privacy and why should it be exhibited public. It's ok to go to a coffee shop to chat with BF/GF. It's quite common in college campus. But such a campaign through facebook and social networking sites, was it actually needed? Am I right? Is true love an expression in public?

It might be needed for some while condemned by others. Who are we permit or forbid it? Let it be an individual choice, providing decency limits are not crossed. As far as such acts of kissing hurting our public sentiments goes, spitting and pissing in public places are much more revolting than kissing. So why ban kissing and permit pissing and spitting?

usha manohar I totally agree with your views, instead of concentrating oncore issues and taking care of their own habits, people waste too much time taking interest in petty issues like display of affection and love in public which is not at all their concern...The problem is the mindset of Indian people which is still in the 9th centuury !!! - usha manohar - 10 years ago
Sandhya Rani Ya, I have seen that cartoon which is being circulated across the web, when kiss mania struck whole nation... - Sandhya Rani - 10 years ago

Kissing in public to show love is not desirable unless, the people involved are homeless orphans.kissing in privacy alone keeps the sanctity of love.

It's rubbish if it was in protest of our traditions otherwise it is perfectly all right as long they do it decently.

Sandhya Rani what about campaigns in Kerala? Do u knw, if police hadn't arrested them, none of them would have been spared. Among the crowd were gangsters and gunde with weapons like sword and knives. Many protestants had already given warning. It was Kerala Police' wisest decision to arrest them ...without giving any notice - Sandhya Rani - 10 years ago
suni51 That's what I am saying too, if they wanted to show they can do against set trends of society that's rubbish. They should be treated like criminals. - suni51 - 10 years ago

PDA is inappropriate just as much as peeing in public. The mass kissing was an expression against cultural and moral policing, but I feel, it wasn't a good way to justify PDA.

The proposed public kissing is not really public expression of love. This is a retaliatory action to the moral policing. Expressing love publicly is okay as far as this is withing limit of decency.

Expressing love in public is OK if they are within their limit. Kissing in public to express his/her love is unnecessary.
