The award for February will be announced in March. Spamming is monitored by the moderators and also may be reported by others. You may also report if you find this. Personally, we should play fair and not spam. Neither spam nor let others do.

Spamming affects everyone. Lets not do it and play fair.
Valid point brought in by,Gulshan. We should start reporting the spamming activities to the moderator making use of the "Report to Moderator" button. :) :)

Reduction or increasing Karma is not necessarily for spam. Even a best performer may get karma reduced. Karma is not related to performance or spam. This is members' discretion. Any one may add or reduce any one's karma. But let us hope that members will use this discretion wisely and add. deduct karma for recording genuine opinion.

Nagalakshmi, do not give this much thought as it may not be used wisely by some members. If someone does not like your point of view he or she may decrease your karma point.

My karma was 9 some days back and now its down to 6! :) So I guess some are not liking my way of reviewing articles or may feel that I am now awarding satisfactory points!

But do not let that discourage you because the karma points are not the sole measure of quality or popularity! Just focus on what you are doing and do what you feel is right for everyone and for teh forum!

Thanks for the explanation provided Gulshan and Kalyani. It is good if people use it for a genuine reason. :) .

Will it display a field the user should fill in "stating the reason" why they wish to reduce/increase the karma points of a person?.
