But there is another purpose behind it. The rich want to show their wealth to the world.

This way they display wealth as well as snobbery. Uf you get wealth by your efforts or even inheritance of business, you need not show. But when you have no business, no work like our ex princes, you have irresistible urge to snobbery and vulgar display of wealth.

The feel of status by vulgar display of wealth is snobbery. Real status is known by your worth as an individual and not that of your wealth. I remember a story. Once one asked what his worth was. He got the reply- one thousand rupees. The man said- But this is value of the dress that I am wearing. He got the retort that minus dress, his value was zero. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
